Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Miami hosts some of South Florida’s most eagerly-anticipated fundraisers which include:
Match Activities – Spending time together is an important element in building any relationship. The friendship between a Big Brother or Big Sister and their Little Brother or Little Sister is no different. The magic created between a Big and a Little is made up of lots of simple moments. For that reason, Big Brothers Big Sisters organizes many Match Activities on a regular basis. These activities give an opportunity for Bigs and Littles to spend time together, have fun and get to know other Bigs and Littles.
Jazz at Joe’s – Each October, when stone crab season begins, South Floridians turn out for Jazz at Joe’s Stone Crab, hosted by the Women’s Committee of Big Brothers Big Sisters. Over 400 guests enjoy a lively brunch featuring the smooth jazz sounds of Leo Casino, exciting raffle prizes and lots of stone crabs, hash browns and key lime pie!
Golf Classic – In November, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami hosts a golf classic event that is one of South Florida’s top three golfing events. The2-day event kicks off with a pre-tournament cocktail, casino party and live auction followed by a Friday morning shotgun tee off. Each golfer receives $300 in Titleist golf merchandise and enjoys breakfast, a shopping spree, a fully-stocked 19th hole on the course, and a post-tournament awards luncheon.
Childrens Holiday Party – The Women’s Committee of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami plans and organizes the Annual Children’s Holiday Party for about 500 “Bigs & Littles” served by our organization. This event has been held in venues like Miami Zoo and the Miami Science Museum. We provide entertainment for the kids and volunteers and, together with Santa and helpers, distribute gifts to our kids following their lunch. It is a wonderful day for all of them made possible through the hard work and dedication of The Women’s Committee and the generosity of our friends and supporters.
Orange Bowl Paddle Championship – In January, one of America’s premier sporting events was started in 2011 to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Miami. Local celebrities, paddle professionals and sports enthusiasts joined Little Brothers and Sisters in a massive first time paddle clinic on Biscayne Bay. This year’s event will draw the world’s top elite competitors in paddle boarding as well as hundreds of recreational amateur participants.
Annual Corporate Summit – Annually, just at the onset of the new school year, Big Brothers Big Sisters brings together all of our Corporate Partners to participate in a dynamic strategy session where School to Work best practices are shared and enhancements to our award winning program are discussed. If you are one of our School to Work sites, you don’t want to miss this stimulating and thought provoking event. The Big Event Gala – Our annual agency gala, held in January, has been the talk of South Florida for over 10 years. This is not a boring black-tie function, but a festive, interactive party featuring an auction village, dinner, dancing, live entertainment and gourmet cuisine in some of Miami’s top venues. The Big Event is attended by Miami’s corporate and philanthropic elite.
Miracle Makers Fashion Show & Luncheon – In April, the Women’s Committee of Big Brothers Big Sisters hosts a spectacular luncheon event to honor South Florida’s most philanthropic and fashionable. Local notables mix and mingle while enjoying an auction, lunch and fabulous fashion show featuring collections from some of the world’s top designers.
School to Work Summit – Once a year, our School to Work site partners get together for a “Summit” in which they discuss strategic topics related to their experience in the program, exchange best practices, ideas and resources.
Adopt a School – By adopting any of our schools, your organization is simply committing to allowing interested staff members to mentor a child at a local school or park once a week for an hour. Our evidence based program is changing the lives of our community’s children, and with your help, the entire community will know that you are investing in making it a better place. If you want to adopt a school, or want more information about it, please let our Strategic Partnerships Department know by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
