About Our Volunteers
Volunteers who are ultimately selected to become Big Brothers or Big Sisters are a melting pot of caring, responsible adults. Each volunteer is carefully selected for each child.
Our Volunteers Are…
- Doctors, mechanics, architects, house painters, lawyers, students, teachers and more
- Anywhere from 18 to 80 years old!
- Single, married, divorced, or widowed
- Thoroughly screened by our professional staff through:
- A criminal background check and driving record check
- A thorough, one-to-one interview with a professional staff
- Three personal and professional reference checks
Additionally, in our community program, no volunteer is ever matched with a child without the review and approval of the child's parent or guardian.
Generally, our Big Brothers and Big Sisters spend at least a few hours every month with their Littles, shooting hoops, fishing, cooking, playing video games - anything that lets a child know that someone else cares for them or pays attention to them and lets them safely enjoy their childhood.
